      Rubs & Sauce Competition for Amateurs and Professionals



Do You Make the Best Sauce in North Carolina?
Now’s your chance to prove it!

Up to $2,800 in Cash Prizes to Be Given Away!

It's a Sauce and Rub Throwdown! We’re looking for the best sauces in the state and you’re invited to participate. But hurry and enter now as we’re limiting this inaugural competition to the first 200 sauce entries.

We are pleased to announce this year's charity contributions will be given to the following organizations: Life Experiences and the Morrisville Rotary Club.

When is the Competition?
This event will be held at the Country Inn & Suites in Morrisville, NC on October 11th, 2008.

Why are we holding this competition?
North Carolina produces the best BBQ in the country, yet we have no sauce competition that showcases the excellent sauces we produce to serve with the BBQ. So we figured now is NC’s time to shine.

Who can enter? 
Any NC resident! Backyard cooks, kitchen cooks, pig cook-off competitors, restaurants, moms, dads, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpas, and any one else who’d like to put their sauce or rub up to the match. If you create a sauce, submit it now!

Why enter?
Why not! In addition to the prize money detailed on the application and getting the biggest bragging rights in the state, you’ll know just how your sauce matches up against others like it. We’ve also assembled some of the most-talented and influential judges in North Carolina to pick the winners.  Someone will win each category. Why not you?

Oh, yes, and did we mention the prize money!

Why is there a $20 submission fee/product?
Quite simply, this is a community event and this competition costs money to put on. So we’re just charging a minimal submission fee to enter (other competitions cost up to $125/product to enter…we know, we’ve done it, and no, we're not allowed to enter!).

How do I enter my Sauce or Rub in the Competition?
Download an application now or call (919) 380-0943 and we'll send you one.

I am submitting an entry. Do I need to attend the event?
No, as explained in the next section, there will be no spectators at this event. You simply send us your sauce and we'll judge and announce the winners around November 20th!

Can I come watch the judging?
For this inaugural event, we will not have room for spectators (hopefully by next year). We’ll be sure to take plenty of pictures and videos to post on the site!
